REGISTRATION AND ENTRY INFORMATIONThe 2017 New Zealand National Karate Championships and National Secondary Schools will be held at the Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua, Wellington. Please note: Competitors must have a current UNZKO player registration to compete. PAYMENT OF ENTRY FEES BY INTERNET BANKING If paying entry fees by internet banking please ensure that you note that the payment is for National Champs by using NZNC17 as the code and the competitor’s surname. Please also email admin@karatenz.co.nz to confirm that you have paid by internet banking. If paying directly over counter at a bank branch please include full telephone number so that KNZ can contact you. Secondary Schools will run alongside the Nationals and start on Saturday morning. Depending on numbers it may also continue on Sunday. NATIONAL OPEN TRAINING CAMP Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua on Monday 17th July and Tuesday 18th July. Train with National team members under the guidance of the National Coaches. The judging of all Kata competition will follow the WKF flag system, either 3 or 5 judges. Team Kata 9yrs and under only one kata required, NO Bunkai required for medal rounds 10-13yrs Kata can be repeated but not consecutively, Bunkai required for medal rounds 14-17yrs Kata can be repeated but not consecutively, Bunkai required for medal rounds 16yrs+ As per WKF rules Repechage:Divisions with three competitors will be run round robin with the placing decided on the number of wins achieved. If each competitor has one win each then placing will be decided on total points scored. Divisions with four competitors will have a match between the two competitors who have not won a match to decide on one third place. Divisions with five competitors will use a modified Brazilian repechage system to decide equal third place (the two first round losers will play off for one of the third equal placings) Divisions with six or more competitors will use Brazilian repechage to decide the third-equal places. Divisions with sixteen or more competitors may have a plate competition for competitors who lose in the first round and do not get a repechage match. For Karate, Brazilian repechage involves the competitors who were beaten by a finalist playing-off to decide the 3rd / 3rd equal placing/s. This means that all medal winners, except possibly for third-place in a round-robin division, will have won at least one match. CoachesAs per WKF rules, follow the code of behaviour and the dress code, namely club or national tracksuit. Only one coach can be present on the mat at a time; only official coaches on the mat and in the warm up area.
