When: Registration and Weigh-in 8.30am
Competition starts 9.00am Sunday 1st Oct 2017.
Where: Pioneer Stadium, 75 Lyttleton Street, Christchurch.
Entries Close: 5pm Friday 22nd Sept 2017.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

Development – Along the lines of 1st or 2nd competition, must be a Kyu grade only, must do development kata, you can only be in this division a maximum of 2 years, this is also for all competitors 9yrs and under. You will be split by weight and grade / kyu. Compulsory Kata only, can repeat.
Intermediate – More experienced in tournaments but not at premier level yet. Kata free choice in all rounds but cannot repeat consectively. You can only be in this division a maximum of 2 years.
Premier – Have competed before, 2nd Kyu and above, those attempting National teams must be in Premier divisions. Kata free choice in all rounds but no repeats. WKF rules apply.
Note - A competitor can only enter in one division. The division can be different for Kata and Kumite

As per current WKF Rules with the following modifications
KUMITE RULES TO APPLY TO ALL KARATE NEW ZEALAND (UNZKO) SANCTIONED TOURNAMENTS:
1. 9 yrs and under – Techniques to the head can score but absolutely NO contact will be allowed. Any contact at all, (unless by Mubobi) including skin touch, will be penalised. The first player to 8 points or the player with the most points at the time up will be deemed the winner.
2. 10-13 yrs - Techniques to the head can score but absolutely NO contact will be allowed. Any contact at all, (unless by Mubobi) including skin touch, will be penalised.
3. Cadets (14/15), Juniors (16/17) and Seniors (18+) – all as per WKF rulebook.
6 yrs to 9yrs Bout duration 1.5 minutes
10yrs to 13yrs Bout duration 2 minutes
14 - 17 yrs as per WKF rules Bout duration 2 minutes
Under 21yrs as per WKF rules Bout duration as per WKF 2 min Female, 3 min Male
18 yrs + as per WKF rules Bout duration as per WKF 2 min Female, 3 min Male
KATA TO BE JUDGED AS FOLLOWS:
The judging of all Kata competition will follow the WKF flag system, either 3 or 5 judges.
Compulsory Kata list: Heian, Pinan, Gekusai, Saifa, or any other Kihon Kata.
In the 9 yrs and under division competitors are required to perform “Compulsory Kata” (listed above).
Competitors can repeat Kata.
For 10-13yrs, Compulsory Kata those in Development can repeat.
For Intermediate free choice in all rounds but cannot repeat consecutively.
Premier free choice in all rounds but no repetition permitted
For WKF Divisions 14/15, 16/17 & 16yrs+, Free choice Kata, but no repetition permitted.
For all Development divisions, competitors are required to perform “Compulsory Kata” (listed above)
Divisions with three competitors will be run round robin with the placing’s decided on the number of wins achieved. If each competitor has one win each then placing’s will be decided on total points scored.
Divisions with four competitors will have a match between the two competitors who have not won a match to decide on one third place.
Divisions with four to eight competitors will have one third place decided using the repechage system.
Divisions with nine or more competitors will use repechage to decide the third-equal placing’s.
For Karate, repechage involves the competitors who were beaten by a finalist playing-off to decide the 3rd / 3rd equal placing/s. This means that all medal winners, except possibly for third-place in a round-robin division, will have won at least one match.
As per WKF rules, follow the code of behaviour and the dress code, namely club or national tracksuit. Only one coach can be on the mat at a time, only official coaches on the mat and in the warm up area.
