All entries will be first on a waiting list and have to be attended by the event manager. The event manager manually moves these entries to the list of official entries after they are approved and / or after paying the entry fee. If you have any questions please contact the event manager.

Hamilton Wado-Kai and CNI are honoured to invite local, regional and national karate clubs and styles to participate in this open tournament.
This competition will cater to all levels - Development, Intermediate and Premier, and it is our hope that new competitors enjoy this opportunity to try out a karate tournament as well as learn from more experienced athletes.

Registration - 8.00am-8.30am
Fraser High School, 72 Ellicott Road
Keep left after entering the school driveway and follow the lane around to the gym.
Parking is available on-site.
To exit school - head back towards entrance and continue straight along driveway.
Exit is on Nyanza Street.
FOOD AND DRINK
Nawton Mall is approx. 5 mins from the school. It has a bakery and supermarket.
If you are after a much classier coffee Te Awa (The Base) is 10 mins drive north on SH1 / Avalon Drive Bypass
The Hamilton Wado-Kai Tournament Squad will be running a sausage sizzle on the day, so if you forgot to bring your lunch, the squad will be selling $10 lunch packs. No late entries or changes will be accepted after this date. If there are insufficient entries in a particular division, divisions may be combined.
Entry Fee will be refunded if a competitor withdraws by Sunday 23rd June 2019. Refunds after this date will only be given if a Medical Certificate is forwarded to the Tournament Organiser. If your division has been cancelled due to lack of numbers, we will do our best to reallocate to another division. A full refund will be given if you have only entered one event and we have not been able to place you. We apologise for any inconvenience.

OFFICIAL DRESS ETIQUETTE
As per Article 2 of the WKF rules, all competitors must wear a white karategi without stripes, piping or personal embroidery, and must be in good condition. For this tournament, the following will apply:
Competitors cannot enter more than one level in the same discipline, e.g. if entering Development kata, cannot also enter Intermediate and Premier Kata divisions.
WKF rules apply to this tournament with the following modifications:
KATA AND KUMITE JUDGING
The total time allowed for the Team Kata and Bunkai demonstration is 5 minutes.
KATA AND KUMITE REPECHAGE
Competitors who were beaten by a finalist will play-off to decide 3rd or 3rd equal placings (repechage). All medal winners, except possibly for third-place in a round robin division, will have won at least one match.
Development - Must be a kyu grade and can only perform Kihon Kata -
Heian 1-5, Pinan 1-5, Gekisai and Saifa
Repeats are allowed.
Maximum time in division: 2 years
Intermediate - Any Kata from the official WKF list including Development Kata.
Repeats allowed but not consecutively e.g. ABCABC. Competitors must know 3 different Kata to enter this level.
Maximum time in division: 2 years
Premier - Can perform any Kata from the official WKF list including Development Kata.
No Repeats permitted.
Under 10 Years - Competitors in Intermediate and Premier are required to perform Development Kata except in medal rounds when Premier Kata may be performed.
No repeats permitted.
All Kata competitors must announce the name of the Kata being performed and bow inside the competition area before and after the Kata is completed.
Failure to bow will result in disqualification.
13 Years and Below - Techniques to the head and neck (Jodan area) can score but absolutely NO contact will be allowed. Any contact (unless by self-endangerment - Mubobi) including skin touch will be penalised.
14-17 Years - Same as above applies, however, Jodan kicks may make the lightest skin touch. Anything more than this will be penalised.
18+ Years - WKF rules will apply
The first competitor to 8 points or with the most points at the time up will be declared the winner.
WKF rules will be used for all Kumite events, including Team Kumite.
