NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL KARATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

We have the honour of inviting you to the NZ National Karate Championships for 2024. This event for this year takes on a slightly different format. We will run Open events in each division, allowing development and intermediate players to compete against premier players. The New Zealand Nationals is the pinnacle event for New Zealand Karate practitioners to test their skills against the best in New Zealand. We look forward to seeing you there!

We wish to begin late afternoon/ early evening on Friday 6th September and finish earlier on Saturday so KNZ can host an annual prize-giving in the evening of Saturday 7th September - more information to come, closer to Nationals.

ATHLETE AND TEAM ENTRIES INCLUDING PAYMENT OF ENTRIES:

A delegate from each club must complete all entries and payments under the club name. When paying entry fees by Internet banking, please note that the payment for both these competitions is one club payment.

  • All entries should be received by 6:00 pm FRIDAY 17th AUGUST 2024 – three weeks before the competitions to allow for the generation of the draws and the timetable.

  • A late fee will be applied if entries are received after the above date. Be organised early.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE REQUIRED TO BE COMPLETED ONLINE THROUGH SPORTDATA. SUBMISSIONS SHOULD BE FACILITATED BY YOUR CLUB INSTRUCTOR OR THE ASSIGNED INDIVIDUAL REPRESENTING YOUR CLUB. THIS PROCESS SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT EXCLUSIVELY UNDER THE CLUB'S DESIGNATED NAME. Whoever registers the club/ association for these events in Sportdata is responsible for informing players, coaches, instructors, parents, and supporters of the Terms and Conditions | Health and Safety | Code of Conduct as written in the disclaimer.

All entries, players, and coaches, must be entered on Sportdata - three weeks before the competitions. Photos (passport-like, with the photo of the face/ head, not the body nor a logo) of the players, coaches, and referees are required in Sportdata for entry. Photos must easily identify those entered, which may mean updating if outdated.

  • All players’ weights must be entered correctly on Sportdata. If a player's weight is incorrectly recorded on Sportdata, the worst-case scenario is that the player is ejected from the tournament with no refund.

  • All entry fees must be paid as one club/ association payment by 6:00 pm FRIDAY 17th AUGUST. PAYMENT OF ENTRY FEES BY INTERNET BANKING TO KARATE NEW ZEALAND [Internet Banking Westpac Account:  03 0180 0177734 00] - add your club/ association name with 'NATS-24' in the bank reference.

  • NO LATE ENTRIES OR CHANGES TO ENTRIES SHOULD BE ACCEPTED by the Organising Committee. If the Organising Committee were to open Sportdata for any reason, then a club koha would be expected.  If clubs are organised earlier there is no need to extend the entry deadline! This early entry deadline will enable the tournament organisers to plan more effectively and publish draws and the final timetable earlier. If there are insufficient entries in a particular division, then divisions may be combined or not held.

Please Note:

  • No individual player can enter themself. This allows for players from the same club, when possible, to be separated in the draws.

  • Competitors can only compete for their club as a financial member or for its region.

  • Seedings in the draws for this tournament will be based on last year’s 2023 NZ National Championships.

PLEASE NOTE:  Athletes and spectators may be photographed and filmed for SKY TV live and/or web streaming and may be used on a highlights package (with options for international viewing). So anyone attending the venue on Saturday and Sunday may be photographed or filmed. By attending, you consent to be filmed, photographed, or interviewed.
