2024 Victorian State Championships

TO ENTER THE VICTORIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS - ALL ENTRIES MUST BE ENTERED VIA THE ONE AND ONLY "LOG ON DETAILS" FROM THE CLUB HEAD OF STYLE. AN EXAMPLE WOULD BE THAT ALL KIMEKAI COMPETITORS WILL HAVE TO ENTER USING SENSEI MAZZANTI'S CLUB LOG IN. THIS IS TO STOP ANY TEAM MEMBERS MEETING EACH OTHER IN THE FIRST ROUND (UNLESS THIS IS UNAVOIDABLE DUE TO NUMBERS ENTERED IN THE CATEGORY).  

Tournament Fees for online entries only

All bouts (Kata & Kumite) will be judged using the flag system. 


ENTRY COSTS:

$110.00 = 1 event and $15.00 for each additional event/s. 

ie for 3 events - $110.00 + $15.00 + $15.00 = $140.00

Teams = $75.00 (please pay for teams separately)

Entries Close 28th February 2024  for online entries. There are no PDF entries for this tournament.

Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances and full payment for competitors on the waiting list must be finalised by the cut-off date by the Head of Style or will automatically be classed as a late entry and removed from the entry list.


Coaches Information - IMPORTANT

In order for you to be eligible to coach on the mats during the tournament, you MUST REGISTER your name under the Coaches registration on SET ONLINE. Any Coach who does not register their names for the tournament will be removed from the mat area and will be unable to Coach during this tournament. It is also a requirement that Coaches dress appropriately in their FULL CLUB TRACKSUIT. Failure to do so will also result in being removed from the mat. With regards to number of coaches per club, the number is 1 coach per 5 students to a maximum of 5 club coaches in total (5 mats).

PLEASE NOTE: To coach at the State Championships YOU MUST be Accredited and be current at the time of the tournament.

Selection to 2024 Victorian Squad

To compete at the 2024 Victorian State Championships, athletes must belong to a KV/AKF registered/associated club.

As the 2024 Victorian State Championships is a selection tournament for the 2024 Karate Victoria State Squad, please note that there will be NO team kumite events or Open Kumite Events.

 

REGARDING INJURY AND AMBULANCE TRAVEL - IMPORTANT

If at anytime an ambulance is required by an athlete during the Championships, it is at the expense of the athlete and not Karate Victoria.


Spectator Fees and Refund Information

Spectator Entry Fees: FREE ** COVIDSafe protocols as applicable will be followed **

Refund Information: In the event an athlete can no longer compete, the following refunds will apply:

- 70% - 8 days or more prior to the tournament date

- 50% - 7 days prior to the tournament date with a medical certificate

- Nil refund if 3 days prior to tournament.


Important Weigh-in Information

Please note, there is a weigh-in allowance of 200grams  for males 14 years and above categories and 500grams  for females & 13 years and below categories. As this tournament is a selection tournament for the Karate Victoria State Team, athletes who do not make weight after 3 attempts shall be deemed ineligible to compete at this tournament. All divisions that have weight categories MUST weigh in!

Athletes will not have the option of moving up or down a weight division.


Compulsory Equipment

For the upcoming Victorian State Championships, the Victorian Referee Council have confirmed the following equipment will be required:

  1. Competitors may wear their club badges on their gi, State Team and/or National Team badges will NOT be permitted.
  2. Competitors must not wear Gi's with personal names or advertising embroidered on. Tapes used to stick over names will not be permitted. DIsplay of special labels or trademarks of approved sponsors will be permitted.
  3. Competitors to supply their own red and blue belts and must be plain without any personal embroideries or advertising other than the customary label from the manufacturer. (Please see updated information above).
  4. AKF/KA or WKF approved red and blue combined Shin/Instep Protectors. ALL competitors (Children, Cadets, Juniors and Seniors). White shin pads with red and blue insteps will be acceptable at this tournament.
  5. Groin Guards (Males) - these must have side straps NOT inserts.
  6. Mouthguards COMPULSORY.
  7. AKF or WKF approved red and blue Mitts. ALL competitors.
  8. AKF or WKF approved body protection for ALL competitors male and female - all ages plus chest protector for female athletes. Please note, modified Kumite Article 2.8.3 (Contestants) for female athletes thirteen (13) years and under that they DO NOT have to wear chest protectors for Victorian karate championships.
  9. Face masks are no longer applicable as from 01.01.2016 onwards. However, ALL children (13 years and under) Kumite divisions MUST WEAR HEAD PROTECTORS.

Please note: anyone missing any of these items listed above, will be given 1 minute to change or obtain the correct equipment, failure to do so will result in disqualification.


Age Cut-off

Age is determined by the age a competitor will be EITHER 2nd August 2024 (if vying for Nationals only) OR  9th October 2024 (if vying for Junior WORLDS Selection). (Confirmed date by AKF/KA)

WKF Rules

WKF modified rules will be applied to this tournament.

Online Payment Instructions

Instructions for paying by Paypal

  1. After registering your athletes, please click on the Paypal logo underneath the amount owing.
  2. This will open up Paypal and will show a “0” amount.
  3. Enter the amount owing and click “update”
  4. The total amount now should show what you owe Karate Victoria.
  5. Log into Paypal as usual on the right hand side and follow the normal steps for payment with Paypal.
  6. Please use the "message to sender" link and advise which competitor the payment is for. It becomes very hard when trying to reconcile payments to email addresses and not athletes.
  7. Athletes will appear on a waiting list until payment has been received, once notification of payment is received by Karate Victoria, the athlete will be moved from the waitlist into the competition.
