All entries will be first on a waiting list and have to be attended by the event manager. The event manager manually moves these entries to the list of official entries after they are approved and / or after paying the entry fee. If you have any questions please contact the event manager.

The 2018 Toronto Open brought to you by OntarioKarateFederation is open to competitors of all ages and level.

Two divisions are offered to athletes: RECREATIONAL and ELITE. The rules for the competition are those from the WKF (WORLD KARATE FEDERATION).

The RECREATIONAL divisions will be divided into Novice & Intermediate levels. Novice Level is for beginner athletes from white to orange belt, the Intermediate level is for beginner athletes from green & above.

The ELITE division is available to athletes from Youth to Senior categories. The ELITE division is intended for advance karateka’s who wish to compete against the best of their age category. These athletes will be able to register in the following categories: Youth (12-13), Cadet (14-15), Junior (16-17) and Senior (16+:kata; 18+:kumite; 17+:Open Weight).

There will be TEAM KUMITE divisions available this year. Teams can consist of 2-3 athletes, following categories will be available: Junior (14-17) and Senior (18+). 

Please note that you are only able to compete in either recreational or elite categories, not both. The exception is if you are doing Recrealtional Kata and Elite Kumite or Elite Kata and Recreational Kumite, either or is allowed. Participants registered will be monitored and adjusted accordingly.

AGE ELIGIBILTY: All participants will be asked to have their birthdays put in; For Recreational Divisons participants are allowed to participate in their own allowed age bracket as of July 15, 2018. For Elite Divisons, athletes are allowed to upgrade for age for a division as of March 31, 2019. Remember athletes will only allowed to compete in 1 age group (exception is Senior Kata or Senior Open Kumite).

There will be NO-ONSITE REGISTRATION. Early Bird Registration deadline is Wednesday July 4, 2018 @11:59pm EST. Final Registration is Sunday July 9, 2018 @11:59pm EST. Draft draw sheets and tentative schedule will be posted on Tuesday July 10. Sensei/Head Coaches will be able to check draws for any missing athletes and corrections needed, deadline is Wednesday July 12 @6pm. Final Draws & Event Schedule will be on Friday July 13.

** Registration fees will increase by 25$ starting July 4, 2018 until the registration deadline of July 9, 2018.

There will be two entries for each category, one will be for OKF-Members and the other is for Non-OKF Members. Please register accordingly, if registered in wrong one, dojo/participant will be contacted to acknowledge the price difference.

Senior Kata, Open Weight Kumite and Team Kumite categories are Cash Prize Event. Depending on number of participants. 

NOTE: Ontario Karate Federation reserves its right to examine every registration submitted to ensure a fair participation to all athletes.

** The athletes can only register in one individual kata category and one individual kumite category, except for those participating in the Senior Kata & Open Kumite Open or Team Kumite.

   Spectator Fee: $5

   Coaches: All coaches are asked to register on Sportdata by Monday July 9, 2018. OKF Coaces will be allowed to use their 2017/18 Coaching Passes. All other coaches will be provided separate wristbands on the day of the event. 

   Only coaches and athletes competing will be allowed on the competition floor. Spectators are advised to be in the stands or behind the barriers around the venue.
